First Time Here?

Let's be honest about what walking into a church for the first time feels like.

It feels like everyone knows something you don't. Like there's a script and you missed rehearsal. Like someone is going to ask you to sign something or join something before you've decided if you even want to stay. None of that is going to happen here.

What Sunday actually looks like at Sts. MM&M.

We have three services. 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM in English. 12:30 PM in Spanish. The 10:30 is our largest and most varied — families with kids, people of all ages, people who've been coming for decades. It lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.

When you walk in, someone will hand you a bulletin. Everything you need to follow along is in it. You don't have to know the responses. You don't have to sing. You're allowed to just sit and watch the first time — or the first several times.

We're Episcopal, which means the service has a particular shape — ancient, actually, going back centuries. There's scripture, a sermon, prayers, and communion. If you've never taken communion before or if you're not sure it's for you, that's fine. Just come forward with your arms crossed over your chest. You'll receive a blessing. No questions asked, no explanation required.

What to wear.

Whatever you have on. Genuinely. We are a South Florida church. We have people who dress up and people who don't. Neither group is wrong.

What happens after the service.

Coffee. Food. Conversation. No one is going to corner you. If you want to talk, there will be people who want to talk. If you need to slip out, you can slip out.

If you want to let me know you're coming, you can email me directly at fatherlee@stmmcs.net. I read my email. I'll write back.

A word about who we are.

We're a bilingual, multiracial community in Coral Springs. We worship in English and Spanish. We have a preschool. Over the last five years we've given more than $560,000 in grants to nonprofits doing real work in northern Broward County.

We have people who've been Episcopalian their whole lives and people who showed up not knowing what Episcopalian meant. We have people who are certain about their faith and people who are working through serious doubt. Both are welcome. Both are here every Sunday.

We didn't set out to be a perfect church. We set out to be an honest one. Come see for yourself.
